🐴🌿 Donkey Picnic Experience

A slow, scenic experience designed to reconnect you with nature, animals, and good food — guided by our donkeys and enjoyed at a relaxed pace.

We often schedule our evening Donkey Picnics to coincide with full moons and the summer solstice, when the light, atmosphere, and setting make the experience especially memorable.

We also run daytime Donkey Picnic experiences on selected dates.

🕔 How the Experience Unfolds

🕔 Arrival & Guided Farm Tour

Guests are welcomed at the farm and begin with an interactive guided tour lasting around one hour. During the tour, you’ll explore the farm, meet all the animals, and have the opportunity to interact with, touch, and feed many of them, learning about life on the farm along the way.

🐴 Meet the Donkeys & Collect Your Picnic

At the end of the tour, you’ll be introduced to your donkey, who will be saddled and ready to accompany you. Your picnic will be waiting for you in a beautiful wicker picnic basket, complete with plates, glasses, and everything needed for a proper picnic experience.

🥾 Scenic Donkey Walk

You’ll then set off on a walk of around 25 minutes, following a scenic route with slightly uneven terrain and a gentle uphill section, accompanied by your donkey.

🌄 Picnic with a View

The walk leads to a panoramic hillside picnic area with tables and seating. Most guests enjoy the communal tables, though a small number of more private tables are also available. Canopies can be provided if needed.

🌅 Relax & Return at Your Own Pace

There is no fixed time limit on the picnic itself — you’re free to relax, eat, and enjoy the setting at your own pace. When ready, you’ll make the 25-minute walk back to the farm with your donkey.

🧺 The Picnic

Each picnic is presented in a traditional wicker basket, thoughtfully prepared with fitted compartments for plates and glasses — a classic picnic experience rather than food served on a blanket.

• Picnic options can be standard or vegetarian

• Vegetarian picnics require a minimum of two people

• Mixed vegetarian and non-vegetarian picnics can be arranged for groups of three or more

🍢 Optional Add-On

Arrosticini can be added to your experience and cooked on the grill at the picnic area.

This experience is best suited to:

• couples

• groups of friends

• young adults

• older children and teenagers

It is not designed for toddlers, and in our experience older children enjoy it far more.

A pony can be provided for younger children to enjoy during part of the experience, depending on numbers and availability.

ℹ️ Good to Know

• 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family & Group Experience: This is a guided experience held on a working farm. While children are welcome, the Donkey Picnic is best suited to couples, groups of friends, young adults, and older children.

• 🧒 Children: Children remain under the responsibility of their parents or guardians at all times. In our experience, older children and teenagers enjoy this experience the most. It is not designed for toddlers.

• 🐴 Animals & Safety: You will be accompanied by a donkey during the walk. Please follow all staff instructions at all times and treat the animals calmly and respectfully.

• 🥾 Terrain & Accessibility: The experience includes a walk of around 25 minutes each way over uneven ground with a gentle uphill section. Comfortable footwear is strongly recommended. This experience may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility.

• 🥗 Food & Dietary Options: Picnics are prepared using farm and local produce. Vegetarian picnics are available but require a minimum of two people. For groups of three or more, mixed vegetarian and non-vegetarian options can be arranged.

• 🍢 Optional Add-Ons: Arrosticini can be added to your experience and cooked on the grill at the picnic area.

• 🚫 Outside Food & Drinks: For food safety and biosecurity reasons, bringing food or drinks from outside the farm is not permitted. Please refer to our FAQs for any exceptions.

• 🐶 Dogs: Dogs are not recommended due to the presence of farm animals and donkeys. If brought, dogs must be well behaved, kept on a lead at all times, and may be restricted from certain areas of the experience.

• ⏰ Timing & Flow: The experience begins with a guided farm tour and continues with the donkey walk and picnic. There is no fixed time limit on the picnic itself, but guests must return to the farm before dark or at the time indicated by staff.

• 🎟 Tickets & Cancellations: Tickets are valid only for the date and experience booked and are non-transferable. Cancellations are possible up to 48 hours before the event. • 🔁 Event Cancellation by Organiser: If the event is cancelled by the organiser for any reason, a website credit of equal value will be issued for future use.
