Extra virgin olive oil culture is deeply rooted in the traditions of Abruzzo . Olives were introduced in our region back in the fifth century B.C. Hundreds of years old tradition that led to the production of extra virgin olive oil with excellent organoleptic properties through a progressive selection of varieties, combined with the characteristics of soil and climate of the area.
Today, in our country, Abruzzo, olive oil is one of the most interesting from the quality production point of view of quality production in our country and has a fifth place for average annual production. Recently there have been many articles in the news on the use of the term 'Extra Virgin' that refers to the first (cold) press of olives, straight from the trees at the end of November.
Many oils that can be bought in supermarkets today are in fact not first press at all, but second press using a chemical process to extract more from the pulp that is bought from 'the frantolio' (village olive press) after the actual first press. The experience of taste is indeed very different and none that inhabitant of the region in which Fattoria Valle Magica is situated, would dream to compromise on. As we feel very much the same on this subject we are slowly growing the amount of olive trees on our land.
Our aim to to be able to share with you the experience of 'real' extra virgin olive oil, straight from the trees.
