Whole/Half Rare Breed Lamb

If you have a big family and would like a whole or half lamb for Easter, then look no further. Our organically feed, free roaming sheep produce the best quality lambs. The breeds we keen are traditional breeds which are renowned for their flavour.
Abruzzo is well known for its culinary specialties: pecorino (sheep cheese), pasta alla chitarra, and more, However, for at least a thousand years, the local tradition of transumanza—the seasonal movement of flocks of sheep and goats from mountains to grazing pastures and back again—has been practiced up and down the hills surrounding our farm. It should not be a surprise therefore that mutton and lamb are also heavily embedded into the local cuisine , central to this being “l’Arrosticino d’Abruzzo”. Small barbecued pieces of mutton (castrated sheep’s meat) on a wooden skewer.
We currently supply whole and half lambs from our Gentile di Puglia and Black Merino sheep, reared on our farm on a 100% locally grown organic diet including a large proportion of natural foraging throughout the local woods, hills and pasture land.
The Gentile di Puglia is the original race that undertook the transumanza in this region and although the majority of local farms have moved to more commercial breeds, we want to stay true to the traditions and origins of lamb meat in this area.
We believe that the focus we put on the selection of breed, welfare and diet of our sheep, and the avoidance of unneeded medication leads to the best possible flavour. Our lambs are slaughtered locally meaning the overall carbon footprint is exceptionally low.
we charge €9/kg and based on the maximum of the range you select and any overpayment due to the lamb being of a lower weight within the range will be refunded on collection.
