Our 100% organically reared sheep are sheared by hand on our farm and the wool is worked in Abruzzo. The wool is posted in 100gram skeins. No dyes are used in the process and the colour is 100% natural. If you have any questions about our sheep or would like to visit the flock, please contact us.
Our amazingly soft 4-ply beige Merino wool comes from our flocks of organically, ethically and traditionally raised sheep and is arguably the highest quality pure wool yarn available.
Here are some of the properties that make it such an amazing material to work with:
All of our beige wool is produced by blending the wool from our flocks of the ancient breed Gentile di Puglia, that originated in this region and our Black Merinos. Both are merino breeds, that because of finer fibres and smaller scales is much softer than other wools The wool is worked locally, in addition to being farmed using traditional (manual) practices, and fed local or foraged food, meaning that this wool has an exceptionally low carbon footprint.
Recent research has demonstrated how harmful synthetic fibres are to the environment and there is a growing understanding of the need for us to return to wearing more natural fibres such as linen, cotton and wool. Our wool is un-dyed so it is also suitable for people with allergies to clothing dyes.
Our wool comes in 100 gram skien of natural un-dyed wool of the best quality. It is an amazing product for creating your own knitwear in fabulous soft wool, both for adults and children as well as arts and craft products.
